Bishop Auckland’s Top 5 Businesses, as voted by residents, announced by Dehenna Davison MP Five businesses are through to the final round of voting for a best local businesses competition, ran by Bishop Auckland MP Dehenna Davison. The Hedgehog Bakery, Glo Tanning, ML Hair and Beauty, R Defty’s and Tinkers Treasures have been announced as residents top 5 businesses across the constituency of Bishop Auckland, beating over 51 other businesses nominated. Voting is now open for the final round, commenting Dehenna Davison said: “A huge well done to our final 5 businesses for reaching the last stage of this exciting competition. It has been incredible to see so much support for all those nominated and the final 5. High streets are a crucial part of our local communities, often forming the backbone of local economies. While there have been significant changes in how we use our high streets, I am a strong advocate for the irreplaceable role that they play in our lives. “We have received thousands of votes, for our top 10 and I cannot wait to see who residents support as their winner. It is so great to see this much support for local businesses and I look forward to visiting the winner soon to award them their title and prize.” Unparalleled investment has been made in the high street, with the £3.6 billion Towns Fund helping to unleash the full economic potential of 101 places across England, with Bishop Auckland benefitting from £33.2 million of investment. Helping to boost local economies, create jobs and new homes, and improve skills. On top of this, the £830 million Future High Streets Fund is in place to facilitate the delivery of regeneration projects across 72 high streets and fund new, with Durham County Council receiving £19.9 million for local projects such as improvements to transport infrastructure, new homes and the transformation of underused spaces.
