Dehenna Davison, MP for Bishop Auckland, was elected as Vice Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Sport at its AGM on Wednesday 22nd January.
Speaking after the event, Dehenna said:
“Bishop Auckland has such a rich sporting history, and I referenced the importance of the constituency in football’s history in my maiden speech.
“With our region such a hive of community sport, I was keen to get involved with the APPG to help promote grassroots sport and boost participation.”
Ben Bradley, MP for Mansfield and one of Dehenna’s Blue Collar Conservative colleagues, was elected as Chair of the APPG. He said:
“Sport has a huge impact on people's lives and contributes to our health and wellbeing. We've got a lot to do to ensure that everyone has access to facilities and resources they need to be able to stay active and take advantage of everything that sport offers. I'm looking forward to working with the committee to push government forward, and to support the Governing bodies and Associations that make it all happen.”
