Bishop Auckland MP, Dehenna Davison, has called on residents to nominate their favourite local, as part of her newly launched ‘Best Pub’ contest.
Posting to her social media, Dehenna called for residents to nominate their favourite pub, saying: “The hospitality industry was one of the hardest-hit sectors of our economy over the last year. Now more than ever it is so important to support our locals.”
The competition, set to run throughout August, is now open for nominations with voting beginning on the 16th.
Urging residents to highlight their favourite watering hole, Dehenna Davison MP said:
“This last year has been incredibly hard on the hospitality industry. Pubs have had to close their doors, adhere to tough restrictions and publicans have worked tirelessly to adapt and ensure we are safe when enjoying a pint and parmo.
“We have some fantastic local pubs here in my constituency and I want to recognise them. The hospitality industry plays a key part in our local and national economy, and it is great to see them fully able to re-open their doors with no restrictions. We must do all we can to support them in this final phase of unlocking and I cannot wait to see who is nominated.”
